And Charlotte, I want to start today with a number that is as staggering as it is deeply unsettling: six billion gallons. That is the amount of treated, clean drinking water that leaks out of aging pipes in the United States alone every single day. Six billion. [pause]

Six billion gallons? [scoffs] Michael, that is enough to fill over nine thousand Olympic-sized swimming pools. Every. Single. Day. Just draining into the dirt before it even has a chance to reach a kitchen tap. It’s madness.
